Lowering emissions and reducing operating costs are crucial for vessel operators today. Challenges which urge deeper insights in the use and behaviour of the vessels, in order to reduce fuel consumption.
Cognauship can assist vessel operators of small (below 500GT) and inland vessels to get these insights. With consultancy and by developing a single solution, stretching from sensor to direct visual feedback and office sharing, Cognauship will lower the entry to power up performance.
Every ship has its own behaviour. It can be seen, felt, heard. It can be captured in data.
Adding vessel knowledge and algorithms to this data creates insights to learn from.
Visualizations of data supported insights drives the crew to take action.
Sharing of insights and actions leads to best practices and structural improvement.
Different sensors generate different data. Uniformity and data quality are the backbone of good fleet insigths. Thorough selection and standardized implementation ensure usefull insights over multiple vessels.
Sensor- and processing technologies are not unique for the maritime industry. Cognauship has developed partnerships to bring proven technologies to your vessels.
Cognauship aims to augment cognitive capabilities of ships to improve sustainability and reduce operating costs. Starting with a clear focus on fuel consumption, a solid digital foundation is laid while ensuring short term business benefits.
Founded late 2019 by Dirk Degroote, former Product Manager of a world leading shipyard, Cognauship can lean on more then 15 years of experience in vessel design, product management, innovation and standardization.
To complement its capabilities and enable cross feeding of technologies, Cognauship is based on the Novio Tech Campus in Nijmegen, where innovative solutions are built in the high tech and health fields.
After spending much of his youth in regatta sailing, Dirk graduated in 2004 as a Naval Architect from the Delft University of Technology. In over 15 years at large international shipyard, Dirk gained a broad experience from different business perspectives and in different cultures.
Married and having young children reminds him every day that the digital transition has just started, but also that we all have a responsibility in keeping the world a good place to live in for the next generations.
